Our Story

Every family has a beginning. Ours started in a small church house in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina — a place where different families gathered not only to worship, but to build something that would outlast any single Sunday.

Generation after generation, those families wove themselves together through fellowship, service, and shared faith, until what began as many threads became one family: the Williams-Abney family.

At the center of that beginning stood two patriarchs — Pick Williams and Sampson Abney. Their names carry the weight of everything that followed: over 100 years of family, faith, and tradition rooted in the soil of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.

From that small town, our family has grown far beyond its original borders. Many of us stayed close to home, building lives in nearby South Carolina towns like Saluda, Ridge Spring, and Greenville. Others followed opportunity, love, and new beginnings much farther — to North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Texas, New York, New Jersey, California, Oregon, and many other places in between. Wherever life has taken us, the Williams-Abney name has traveled too.

And yet, no matter how far our roots have spread, something about that small South Carolina town still calls us home. Every year, on the first Saturday in August, family from every corner of the country finds its way back to where it all began — not because we have to, but because some part of us has never stopped belonging there.

This is more than a family tree. It is a living testimony to what two men started in a small church house over a century ago — proof that even as we scatter, we always find our way back to one another.

Our Roots.

Every branch tells a story. Explore our family albums, trace our family tree, celebrate our milestones, and honor those we hold in loving memory.
